This is a very touching and honest statement by Chuck Palahniuk. He is talking about the books he wrote, his experiences with women and how he wants to be with someone forever. He wants the relationship to be so amazing that he doesn't want to have to worry about who is in it and how it's going to work out in the long run. He admits that in order for him to be with this girl, he would have had to lie, sneak around and basically do what was not right.

It isn't worth it. You can't take chance after chance after chance and expect anything good to happen, but you can take chances and not get hurt if you're smart about it.
